The Jarvis history of refrigeration dates back over 100 years ago. It started with Rick’s grandfather, Edward H. Jarvis Sr., who maintained refrigerated milk tanks in the dairy industry. His son, Edward Jarvis Jr., started his refrigeration career while serving our country in the United States Air Force during the 50s. He worked on all aspects of the HVAC/R trade, including walk-in coolers and freezers.

Upon being honorably discharged from military service, he continued his work in the HVAC/R trade, servicing residential and commercial buildings. He worked for a mechanical contractor in Orlando until 1992 when he decided to start Mechanical Refrigeration, Inc. with his family by his side. The business grew and has since expanded to include industrial refrigeration, specializing in everything from glycol chillers to refrigerated warehouses.

The growth created a move to a 17,000 square foot building which is where MRI currently operates. Today, Edward Jr’s son, Rick, has the same vision that his dad had of putting customers and quality service first.

In the late 90s, MRI expanded to form a division called RD&M (Refrigeration Design and Manufacturing). The main focus is to build custom refrigeration rack systems to handle customer’s specific needs. RD&M works with the customer to create the best possible system to satisfy their needs. Major customers for an RD&M rack system include theme parks, food process and research facilities, food distribution facilities, and the citrus industry. Once the system is designed and fabrication is complete, MRI will install or work with the installer through system start-up and be available 24 hours a day for assistance on any problem or questions.

The longevity of our customers speaks for itself. We have had some of our customers since the day our doors opened. We are proud of our reputation for putting the customer first and listening to their needs. MRI is proud to provide the highest standard of refrigeration services in central Florida while treating customers like they are family.
